The "Detector"
There are more detector types
than what is on this page, but these two are the main types.
Old Catswisker Type
Detector
The "Old Style" commonly
called the "Catswisker" type detector. It has nothing to do with a cats
wisker. It was called this because the tiny wire resembled a cats
wisker. (see fig below)
It consists of a handle (black knob on the right), the boom (the rod
from the handle to the "catswisker"), the "catswisker" (small wire on
left end of the boom), and the galena crystal mounted in any of several
ways (in this case mounted in woods metal.
